1. What type of head should I choose?
Choose natural cotton for general mopping. Rayon is ideal for finishing. Looped end/tailband mops reduce linting, fraying and unraveling. The tailband also prevents tangles and provides more coverage with each stroke.
2. Are mops available for special uses?
Yes. We offer mops with a built-in scrub pad, anti-skid mops, rough floor mops, cleanroom mops, antimicrobial mops and special finishing mops. Some styles are available in different colors; color-code by mopping use.
3. What mop handle do I need?
That depends on the mop head style, the headband size and special features desired. A standard head uses a clamp style handle; a saddleback head uses a clamp or gripper style handle; a lieflat head requires a lieflat screw-in handle. Some handles hold only mop heads with a certain size headband. There are antimicrobial handles and quick-change handles, and handles with various connecting mechanisms.
1. How does mop head style affect my mop handle choice?
Different handles work best with specific mop heads. Standard heads use a clamp handle, while a saddleback head can be used with a clamp or gripper handle. Lieflat heads require lieflat screw-in handles. Some mop handles are designed for specific size headbands, as well.
2. How do I select the best connecting mechanism?
For efficient mopping, choose a quick-change style head: a side gate, swing-away retaining
bar or jaw-style clamp. Roller adjustment knobs or wing-nut style nobs quickly secure the mop head in place. Spring action grips and jaw-style clamps hold securely, offer easy unloading without touching the mob, and fit most mop heads. Screw-in handles use a threaded connector to firmly attach to a lieflat head with a threaded metal stud.
3. What are the differences in handle material?
Handles treated with an antimicrobial agent help protect against bacterial growth. Fiberglass and vinyl-covered aluminum handles provide durability and protect against splintering and electrical shock. Lacquered wood handles are a cost-effective choice.
PET (polyethylene trephthatlate) is a polyester plastic commonly used for bottling water, soft drinks, cosmetics and other liquid products. Although popular for packaging, PET contributes to landfill waste and the use of natural resources.
For example, in 2002, 2 billion lbs. of PET bottles were wasted, and these bottles will not break down for at least 2,000 years.
There are currently four tons of PET wasted for every ton recycled—yet just eight 16-oz. PET bottles can make 1 sq. ft. of polyester carpet, one x-large t-shirt, two baseball caps or one large mop head. Additionally, recycled PET can be used in athletic shoes, luggage, automotive parts, industrial strapping and more.
Purchasing products made from recycled PET can help diminish landfill waste and conserve natural resources.
